The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced a stakeholders meeting scheduled for July 1, 2024, to unveil the timetable for the upcoming 2024 Local Government Elections.
The RSIEC made this known in a notice signed by its chairman, Hon. Justice Adolphus Enebeli amidst the recent heightened political activities in the state.
In the notice, RSIEC highlighted the importance of this meeting for ensuring a transparent and organized electoral process.
The timetable’s unveiling is expected to provide clarity and guidance for all parties involved in the forthcoming local government elections.
”The highlight of the meeting will be the unveiling of the timetable and guidelines for the 2024 local government elections in the state.
”All concerned should be seated at the RSIEC auditorium by 9:45 am, please,” part of the notice read.
The upcoming meeting will bring together key political stakeholders, including representatives from various political parties, civil society organizations, and security agencies.
The announcement comes at a time when the political climate in Rivers State is currently charged after Governor Sim Fubara sacked the former CTC chairmen.
The sacked chairmen are loyalists of a former governor of the state and current FCT minister, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
