JUST IN: SDP Senatorial Candidate Joins APC in Bauchi, Gives Reason

Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed Baba, a senatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Bauchi North Senatorial district in the just concluded 2023 general election, has recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the former member of the House of Representatives for Katagum federal constituency made the announcement during his resignation from the SDP in Katagum Local Government Area, where he was received by the APC Chairman of Nasarawa Bakin Kasuwa ward, Malam Adamu Abubakar.

Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed Baba had previously represented Katagum federal constituency in the House between 2015 to 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, he later left the party due to disagreements.

In a recent statement to journalists after declaring for the APC, he stated that he returned to reinvigorate the party for the betterment of Nigeria.

He expressed his belief that most politicians in the state have always been inclined towards the APC, as evidenced by their clamour for the party before the 2015 polls.

He also expressed his confidence in the continued expansion of the APC, now that some formerly aggrieved members have come to understand the anger of other members of the party.

Baba revealed that he and thousands of his supporters from Bauchi North senatorial district, and even beyond, are now with the APC. He congratulated members of the party on their victory in the February 25 presidential election, as well as other elective offices in the country.

“The main reason for my coming back into the APC is to partake in ratifying some of its identified anomalies while placing it on a sound footing ahead.” he said.

“Some APC members in Bauchi have different reasons for leaving the party, some were annoyed by acts of omission, especially during and after the party primaries.

“This was the major reason some of us decided to stage a come back into the APC in order to revive the party.”

“By God’s grace we would nurture the party to an enviable position among its peers,” he said.

The APC Chairman of Nasarawa Bakin Kasuwa ward, Malam Adamu Abubakar, congratulated the decampee, especially the former national lawmaker, for returning to his original party. He expressed his delight that Baba’s return to the APC is a booster to the party that would help to streamline its successes at all political frontiers in the state and the country at large.
