The country’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu, recently met with Senate President Ahmed Lawan, House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy Senate President Omo Agege, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, and other APC leaders at the Defence House in Abuja.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that while the details of the meeting have not been disclosed, it is believed to be related to the leadership of the upcoming national assembly.
Earlier today (Friday), Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State announced that former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has been chosen as the next Senate President.
“The Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will come from the South South and it is no other person than the former governor of Akwa Ibom.
“The uncommon governor, the uncommon minister who is going to be the uncommon president of the senate. So we have resolved that.
“I am giving you assurance, we are waiting for the D-Day that he will be the Senate President of Nigeria,” he said.
However, it remains unclear if this decision was made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership or by Ganduje himself.
