Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, on Thursday said that he was on board when a train ran over an explosive, which subsequently ‘damaged Kaduna-Abuja rail track’. According to Sani, “it took a miracle for us to escape”.
Sani stated this on his verified Twitter handle. He claimed that similar incident occurred on Wednesday.
“Yesterday, terrorists attacked the Kaduna Abuja railway with an explosive & opened fire on the train, targeting the Engine Driver & the Tank. This morning, I was on board when our train ran over another explosive damaged rail track. It took a miracle for us to escape,” Sani wrote.
This incident is coming at a time the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) announced that it would reduce the number of trips on the Abuja-Kaduna route (from October 19 to October 21).
NRC Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria, said in a recent statement that the reduction in the number of trips was to carry out scheduled maintenance.
He stated that rather than the daily 10 trips, there would be four trips only on October 19 and on October 20.
He added that on Thursday, October 21 (today), there would be eight trips.
“Full train services will resume on Friday, Oct. 22,” Okhiria had assured.
The NRC management apologised for inconveniences the reduction in the number of trips might cause to passengers.
Hard luck sir, I prayer for more protection over your life and your family
