Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, for the opening of the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit, where he is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Special Guest of Honour.
The summit, organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), is focused on finding lasting solutions to Nigeria’s economic challenges. This year’s theme, “The Reform Imperative: Building a Prosperous and Inclusive Nigeria by 2030,” reflects the need to move from policy promises to real progress that improves the lives of citizens.
The event gathers top government officials, global leaders, business executives, economists, development partners, and policy experts to build consensus on practical reforms that can strengthen the economy.
The discussions will centre on three major pillars — reforms, resilience, and results — while also exploring key areas such as industrialisation, investment, infrastructure, inclusion, and institutional development.
The summit is particularly significant as Nigeria continues to seek stability after years of reforms such as banking consolidation, subsidy removal, privatisation, and exchange-rate adjustments, which have yet to yield broad benefits for ordinary citizens.
Vice President Shettima is expected to declare the summit open and present the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to promote inclusive growth, macroeconomic stability, and stronger national institutions.
