Six members of the Rivers State House of Representatives, reportedly loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers made the announcement during plenary on Tuesday.
Those who crossed over to the APC include Hon. Solomon Bob, Hon. Victor Obuzor, Hon. Dumnamene Dekor, Hon. Cyril Hart, Hon. Blessing Amadi, and Hon. Felix Nwaeke.
Their defection represents the latest political shift amid ongoing power struggles within the Rivers State PDP, as Wike’s allies increasingly align with the ruling party at the federal level.
The move is expected to further erode the PDP’s influence in Rivers State and intensify internal party tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
