Soldiers have successfully repelled an attack by unknown gunmen in Abia State.
The incident occurred earlier today in Ohafia Local Government Area, adding to the ongoing security challenges in the region.
According to initial reports, the attack took place at a military checkpoint at Federal Government College (FGC) in Ohafia around 3:00 PM.
The gunmen launched a surprise assault on the checkpoint, prompting a swift and decisive response from the stationed soldiers.
The soldiers engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, effectively repelling the assault.
Multiple attackers were reportedly killed in the exchange, demonstrating the preparedness and resilience of the Nigerian military forces in handling such security threats.
One suspect was apprehended during the confrontation. Additionally, a cache of weapons was recovered from the scene. The arrested individual is currently in custody and is expected to provide valuable information that could help in further security operations.
