JUST IN: Soldiers storm bandits’ hideout in Taraba, kill two, recover weapons

Troops of the 6th Brigade of the Nigerian Army have foiled a bandits’ attack in Taraba state.

The operation, carried out on October 1 under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, led to the killing of two terrorists and the recovery of weapons.

Acting on intelligence, the soldiers advanced to Tor Ikyeghgba village, where the bandits were said to be gathering.

They encountered the terrorists along the Powerline axis and engaged them in a gun battle.

According to the army, the superior firepower of the troops forced the bandits to flee, leaving two of their members dead.

Items recovered include a locally fabricated pistol, two dane guns, three rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a Baofeng radio, a motorcycle and other belongings.

Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6th brigade, commended the troops for their professionalism and urged them to sustain the momentum.

He assured residents of Taraba that the army remains committed to restoring peace and security in the state.

Uwa also called on the public to support military operations with credible intelligence that could aid the fight against criminality.
