Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, has said that rather than adopt deceit, ‘which most Nigerian politicians are known for’, “I would leave public office”.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Governor Soludo said this in a piece he authored on Monday, titled: ‘History Beckons and I will not be Silent’.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) vowed to be honest with his thoughts.
“I am not an Angel but rather than knowingly repeat the same deceitful character that politicians are known for, I would leave public office. It is a vow I made to my God and to my family.
“Only God knows how many days I will be on this seat but whether I am on it or not I will always say it as it is— knowing fully the suicidal consequences of telling the truth in a political arena, especially in a country where lying and deceit by politicians have become culture and celebrated as being “smart”,” Soludo said.
Soludo has come under attack from ‘Obidients’, a sobriquet coined and adopted by followers of Obi to show their support for the 2023 presidential ambition of the 61-year-old. It followed the governor’s comments during an interview on a national television where he alleged that the investment of the Labour Party presidential flag-bearer in the state government is “worth next to nothing”.
You can say whatever you wanna say about anyone. Politics is a game. No one knows who3 going to win or lost.
If you know that he’s not going to win then you have to prove that you know what you guys have buried that he can not win.
God has the final say. Obi has my vote.

With all due respect your excellency. I think you are already off-track by attacking PO. If for any reason, you want to continue in the buck passing games, look the way of your immediate predecessor. Nigerians have verified incoming president PO.
We can’t leave d truth to tell lies bcos it’s bitter
He should have resigned Honorably! what other lie or deceit is more than saying that Peter Obi’s investment in Anambra is worth more than nothing?
Is he trying to debunk a history or what is he trying what is trying achieve with such a defamatory calumny?
The question is did peter Obi left both 400 billion dollars and naira in Anambra as he said. Did he actually invested in education that resulted in them coming as the first, etc?
What do he really meant? Does his explanation of honesty have to do with calling good evil or turning light into darkness?
when was the governor of Central Bank cbn and did excellently did anyone condemned him or is not happy seeing anyone to outshine him.
This another opportunity given to him as Anambra state governor, let him perform better than all his predecessors his writing everything he’s doing.
He can tarnish his good records and he can again make more history that will position him as a future leader of this country Nigeria. So let him focus on his duty of building and uniting Anambra to be the best State in Nigeria. I rest my case.
You are very very stupid, it’s true that enemies originate from the same family somebody like you to vomit this character give a bad name to the lBOS
I appreciate the frankness of His Excellency , Governor Charles Soludo on the investment claim of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi but the claim of the Labour Party , in my view, shouldn’t be turned into a controversial matter except now that it is being politicized by those opposed to the supporting facts and reasons by the Labour Party candidate as his qualification. Why should the investment be rubbished when the undisputable healthy account balance he left behind is, to my knowledge, not controversial. The fact of the matter, as we are informed, is that the Labour Party candidate made an investment, not in his own or interest, in the public interest of Anambra and Anambrians and it happens that investment, clearly there on the ground and is not a white elephant project, is doing well as envisaged. Should we now critize and disqualify him for not being a genuine prophet even when economists fail in their investments. How banks in Nigeria have collapsed even when Professor Charles Soludo reorganized in his best professional judgement. Are we to write him off as incompetent ? What Labour Party candidate is able to do best is his micro manage of his private business that is completely unlike public responsibility at that time and I think it is the responsibility now of the Government of Anambra State where Professor Soludo is now the Governor .
Even if you resign now you have nothing to loose sir,so it will be nice if you do so cus,no sign of hope for Anambra people as far as your government is concerned…..
Please live Peter Obi alone, kindly focus in your administration as a governor.
Soludo For demarketing our kinsman obi no problem anabarians
Soludo is missing the point when he says he is telling the truth and will not lie while in office. The point is, what truth is he talking about?
The truth I suppose is: PETER WILL NOT WIN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND SHOULD STOP PRETENDING AND DECEIVING NIGERIANS.
When has it become a crime to contest and lose a presidential election?
So Atiku, Buhari, Tofa, Zik, Awo, Abraham Lincoln, etc who contested, lost or later won the presidential elections were deceivers. Soludo himself contested the governorship of Anambra state under PDP. before Obiano promised him a platform in APGA and worked for him to win.
So he was telling lies when he contested under the pep platform?
Soludo, why is it your headache if PO loses the election? You are already telling lies by saying that POs investments are worthless. Didn’t you hear what Obiano told the governor of Taraba State on how he was able to build the Anambra Airport with Peters savings? The coys he invested in are not moribund and they are not insulated from the world economic downturn. The dollars, pounds and euros nko? Are they worthless too? You are lying Soludo. Why did you say that you won’t lie while in office? Whoever sent you has killed your political career. Nobody will trust you again. YOU SAID OBIANO, YOUR POLITICAL GODFATHER LEFT AN EMPTY TREASURY. NOW PETER OBI’S INVESTMENTS AND ALL THE MONEY HE SAVED FOR ANAMBRA ARE WORTH NEXT TO NOTHING! HABA!
Peter has been very genial and charitable in his reply but Obidients will certainly not be. You have hurt them badly. They feel betrayed by the governor they elected, hoping that another Peter Obi was in the making.
You heard Peter today. Government is a continuum. Carry on from where he stopped. DAY OF RECKONING BECKONS! SEE YOU AT THE END OF THE FIRST FOUR YEARS IN THE OFFICE.
Ohaneze should call this man to order before he does more harm than good to igbos and Nigerians in general.
Our traducers will be laughing us to scorn. They are having a field day. How are the mighty Igbo fallen!
Tell it not to the Afenifere, Middle Belt Forum nor Pandef. They won’t believe their ears.
Please live Peter Obi alone, just focus in your administration as a governor.
