JUST IN: Southeast Governors Order Security Agencies to Deal with Insecurity in the Region

The South-East Governors Forum has ordered security agencies to deal ruthlessly with perpetrators of insecurity in the region and their sponsors.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the governors, who met in Enugu on Thursday, described the perpetrators as criminals and said they should not be seen as legitimate pro-Biafra agitators.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, said the governors were concerned about the rising insecurity in the region and had decided to take decisive action.

We wish to state categorically that the perpetrators of the insecurity in our region and their sponsors are criminals and should not be seen as legitimate agitators,” Uzodinma said. “Therefore, upon arrest, they should be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.”

The governors also resolved to hold a security and economic summit in the region to address the root causes of insecurity.

The meeting was attended by all five governors of the Southeast, including Alex Otti of Abia State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Dr Peter Mbah of Enugu, and Senator Hope Uzodinma of Imo State.
