The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar on Monday vowed that protest embarked upon by Nigeria’s main opposition party would not stop anytime soon.
POLITICS NIGERIA had reported how Atiku, a former Vice-President, led a ‘black uniform’ protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Maitama, Abuja.
Atiku; the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu; the Vice Presidential Candidate of the party and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State; a former federal lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, were part of the protest.
Some others were Aminu Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto State; and Rivers State PDP chieftains, Abiye Sekibo and Uche Secondus.
The protesters marched to the INEC Headquarters in Maitama where they blocked the INEC headquarters’ entrance.
Speaking at the demonstration, Atiku, 76, said: “In fact, this protest will continue for a very long time, either every day or any other day.”
This newspaper reports that the demonstration, also attended by PDP supporters, was to protest the outcome of the February 25 presidential election which produced Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the president-elect.
Apart from protests, the PDP has also approached the court.
