JUST IN: Tambuwal Speaks on Loyalty to Wike, Explains Why He Chooses Atiku Politically

Former Governor of Sokoto State and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has said he supports former Vice President Atiku Abubakar politically while maintaining a personal friendship with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

He made the disclosure during a Channels Television interview on Friday.

“If today, and I’m saying this with all sense of responsibility, Vice President Atiku comes in here and Nyesom Wike comes in here and request this my phone which is personal to me, I’ll give it to Nyesom Wike rather than Atiku, as a friend. But when it comes to the leadership of this nation and the leadership of the people tomorrow, not even today, I’ll rather support Atiku than Wike,” he said.

Tambuwal has a history of siding with Atiku. In the 2022 primaries of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he stepped down for the former vice president, a decision which led to Atiku’s victory with 371 votes against Wike’s 237.

However, it can be recalled that in 2018, Wike threw his weight behind Tambuwal’s own bid for the ticket, but Atiku still clinched the party’s nomination.

Today, both Tambuwal and Atiku are united in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition.
