Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to Beijing on Tuesday.
The visit, part of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), seeks to deepen economic, political, and cultural cooperation between Nigeria and China.
The welcoming ceremony, held with full state honours, saw President Xi Jinping and President Tinubu engaging in talks aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for cooperation in various sectors, including infrastructure development, trade, and security.
During their discussions, President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of Nigeria as a strategic partner for China in Africa.
President Xi also reiterated China’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic diversification efforts and fostering mutual benefits through trade and investment.
In response, President Bola Tinubu expressed his appreciation for China’s ongoing support of Nigeria’s development projects.
He noted that the cooperation between the two nations has been instrumental in areas such as transportation, telecommunications, and agriculture.
