JUST IN: Tinubu in Closed-Door Meeting with NLC, TUC Leaders over Minimum Wage

President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a closed-door meeting with leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The labour team, led by NLC President Joe Ajaero and TUC President Festus Osifo, is expected to finalize discussions on the new minimum wage.

Last week, President Tinubu expressed his commitment to improving workers’ welfare, wages, and working conditions, stating that Nigerian workers deserve better.

However, Labour is maintaining its demand for a minimum wage of N250,000, contrary to the federal government’s proposal of N62,000.

Recall that following last week’s meeting, a consensus on the issue was promised by President Tinubu during the Federal Executive Council meeting.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had earlier confirmed that the President would hold a follow-up meeting with labour leaders to continue consultations with stakeholders.
