Tinubu Reacts as Mexico Elects First Female President

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the President-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum on her election as the country’s first female President.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Sheinbaum’s win at the election marks a significant milestone in the country’s political landscape since its independence in 1821.

In a press release by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngalale on Wednesday, President Tinubu praised Sheinbaum’s landslide victory.

The statement said, “President Bola Tinubu extends his congratulations to Her Excellency, Ms. Claudia Sheinbaum on her historic election as the first female President of the United Mexican States (Mexico).”

President Tinubu added that Sheinbaum’s election “accents the voices of women in government, shatters political glass ceiling, and sends a reverberating message across the world that women must not only be participants but principal architects in shaping and implementing decisions affecting the lives of many.”

On behalf of the Nigerian government and people, President Tinubu congratulated the people of Mexico and expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral ties between both nations in areas of mutual interest.
