President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received a birthday call from former President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.
Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu, disclosed the conversation in a press statement on Saturday.
In the call, Buhari expressed his gratitude for Tinubu’s role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his contribution to the party’s victories in 2015 and 2019.
“When we pray for our leaders, we are praying for ourselves and the nation. We owe this to ourselves and the country,” Buhari told Tinubu.
Buhari described him as “a party stalwart, a staunch activist, a reliable ally, and a serial winner of democratic elections.”
He added, “I am truly proud of my association with Asiwaju.”
Buhari reaffirmed his belief in the APC’s vision for Nigeria, stating that the mandate given in 2015 was to build a better future for the country, and he was pleased to see Tinubu continuing that mission.
The former president also extended Ramadan and Eid greetings to Tinubu, his family, and the Nigerian people.
Buhari handed over power to Tinubu in 2023, following the completion of two terms of eight years as president.
