The Federal Government has vehemently refuted claims of engineering the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Idris Malagi, dismissed allegations linking the government to the crisis.
The minister emphasised that the occurrence within Rivers State doesn’t automatically implicate federal involvement.
Malagi stressed the absence of conclusive evidence indicating the Federal Government’s orchestration of the political crisis despite the presence of specific individuals associated with President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet in the state’s political landscape.
Highlighting previous interventions by the President to resolve political disputes within the same party in other states like Ondo, Malagi reiterated the government’s commitment to mediating internal party conflicts.
His words: “The fact that it is happening in Rivers does not mean that it is the Federal Government that is orchestrating the political crisis.
“I’ve not found evidence to say that it is the Federal Government that is engineering the crisis in Rivers State. It is easy to speculate because some of the actors are people who associate with the government at the centre”.
