A retired brigadier-general, Sidi Ali, is dead, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.
His brother, Munzali Jibrin, a professor of political science at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), announced Ali’s exit on Friday via a statement.
The late former Military General had been ill and was receiving medical attention at his Hotoro residence in Kano State, northwest Nigeria.
Named after a man dubbed the greatest inheritor (Khalifa) of Shaykh Ahmad Tijani, a prominent Islamic spiritual leader, Ali was a graduate of Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. He joined the Nigerian Army (NA) in the 1970s and was deployed to the Ordnance Corps, which is in charge of storing weapons of all descriptions.
He rose to the rank of a one-star General before retiring.
Tributes poured in from across Nigeria after the family announced the death of Sidi Ali.
