Grace Alele-Williams, Professor of Mathematics, and First Nigerian female Vice-Chancellor (VC) at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), is dead.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that Alele-Williams died on Friday, aged 89.
The deceased was credited with sanitising UNIBEN of cultism.
As of the time of filing this report, there is o official confirmation of her death from the family.
The former VC’s honours included Fellow of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Education and merit award winner of old Bendel State in Nigeria.
She was also the regional Vice-President for Africa of the Third World Organisation for Women in Science, Chairman of the African Mathematical Union Commission for Women in Mathematics and first President of the African Mathematical Union Commission on Women in Mathematics.
Late Alele-Williams is a renowned scholar, consultant, publisher and administrator.
