JUST IN: Tribunal Reserves Judgment on Atiku’s Petition Against Tinubu’s Victory

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPC) sitting in Abuja has reserved judgment on the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the declaration of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Atiku and the PDP alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rigged the election in favour of Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The petitioners also allege that Tinubu was not qualified to contest the election because he was indicted for drug trafficking in the United States, his academic certificates submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were forged, and he is a citizen of Guinea

They are therefore asking the court to void Tinubu’s election, declare Atiku winner, or order a fresh election.

The petitioners closed their case on June 23 after calling 27 witnesses. The court had then directed parties in the petition to write, file, and exchange their final written addresses.

At the resumed session on Tuesday, parties in the suit adopted their final addresses which summarize all the evidence tendered before the court.

The tribunal, after hearing arguments from both sides, reserved judgment to a date to be communicated to the parties in the case.

  1. These people are playing with the collective intelligence of the people. They will go round and round, up and down without coming to any conclusion after spending billions of dollars or pounds. I have moved on. As the Bible says all these things are showing that Man cannot rule successfully without the input of God. Jeremiah 10:23.
