The Sokoto Governorship Election Petition Tribunal will deliver judgment on the suit challenging the election of Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Saturday, September 30, 2023.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the tribunal’s chairman, Justice Haruna Mshelia, announced the date in a notice.
The petition was filed by Sa’idu Umar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who is challenging the election of Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his deputy, Idris Gobir, over alleged non-qualification and electoral fraud during the March 18 governorship election.
The tribunal had reserved judgment on the petition in August after the parties adopted their final written addresses.
In the notice, the secretary of the tribunal, Sunday Martins, Esq, advised counsel to inform their clients that supporters would not be allowed into the court premises as movement would be highly restricted by the security agencies.
“Take notice that Petition No EPT/SK/GOV/01/2023 will be coming up on Saturday, 30/09/2023 at 9:00 am for judgment.
“Counsel are advised to inform their clients that supporters would not be allowed into the court premises as movement would be highly restricted by the security agencies,” the notice read.
