JUST IN: Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji Liberate 24 Abductees in Zamfara Forest [PHOTO]

Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have rescued 24 individuals who had been held captive in the Kabugu Lamba forest of Zamfara State.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the rescue operation was prompted by credible intelligence reports received by the troops.

The intelligence revealed the presence of a bandit hideout where the kidnapped victims were being held.

Acting swiftly upon the information, the Nigerian Army deployed a fighting patrol to the specified area. Upon arrival, an exchange of gunfire ensued between the bandits and the army personnel, lasting for several hours.

This newspaper learnt that given the troops’ exceptional firepower and strategic manoeuvring, the armed bandits were eventually overpowered and forced to retreat, leaving behind the abductees in isolated structures.

The rescue effort resulted in the liberation of 24 kidnapped victims, while four armed bandits were killed during the operation. Others, sustaining gunshot wounds, managed to escape the scene.

Among the rescued individuals were nine women, fourteen men, and an infant.
