Troops from Sector 3 of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have repelled an early morning attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the North East of Kukawa, Borno State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that ISWAP fighters attacked the Mosquito Camp military base with Hilux trucks and heavy weapons on Thursday.
It was gathered that the ISWAP fighters came from the axis of Arinna Maimasalaci.
The attack triggered a heavy gun battle with the troops, which lasted for about one hour, according to Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad.
With support from reinforcements from Kukawa, the troops successfully repelled the attack.
There were no casualties on the side of the troops in the encounter.
The development comes days after troops repelled an ISWAP attack in Borno State. On October 18, troops from 3 Battalion Operation Hadin Kai repelled a similar attack on Gamborun Ngala, with the terrorists suffering heavy casualties.
