Police have engaged a group of terrorists in a firefight, neutralizing two and injuring several others in Katsina State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the encounter took place on Friday at the residence of Sarkin Fulani in Danmarke village, Kurfi Local Government Area of the state.
According to sources, the gunmen were shooting indiscriminately with AK 47 rifles when the police arrived, responding to a distress call. The officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer, successfully repelled the terrorists. Upon searching the area, two bandits were found to have been neutralized, and rustled cows were recovered.
In a statement released by the Police Spokesman, CSP Gambo Isah, he said there is reasonable cause to believe that many of the other terrorists who fled with bullet wounds have died of their injuries.
According to the report, search parties are currently combing nearby bushes to arrest the remaining terrorists. The command has appealed to members of the surrounding communities to report to the nearest police station if they notice any individual with bullet injuries.
