Some ‘Unknown Gunmen’ have set ablaze a state High Court in Owutu-Edda, Afikpo South Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the attack which happened on Tuesday night, is the first on any public facility in Ebonyi State since the conclusion of the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Oluchi Uduma, the Registrar of the court confirmed the attack to newsmen in Owutu-Edda on Wednesday morning.
According to her, the hoodlums invaded the court on Tuesday and set the building ablaze.
Furthermore, Uduma explained that the court building, documents and other valuables were completely burnt.
The Chairman of Afikpo South Local Government Area (LGA), Chima Nkama also confirmed the incident. He said police have been briefed.
Similarly, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ebonyi State police command Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the attack, but said the details are still sketchy.
