JUST IN: Unrest in Enugu as suspected herdsmen attack community, 1 killed

At least one person has been killed while two others are in critical condition after suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Abor Community in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria.

POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that the murderous herders attacked three farmers with machetes at the weekend, resulting in the death of one of their victims.

Palpable fear has gripped the community due to the incident.

The spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the attack but claimed that no life was lost.

“Yes, there was an attack but nobody died,” he said.

Herder–farmer conflicts in Nigeria have mainly involved disputes over land resources between mostly Muslim Fulani herders and mostly Christian non-Fulani farmers across Nigeria and have been especially prominent in the Middle Belt (North Central) since the return of democracy in 1999. More recently, it has deteriorated into attacks on farmers by Fulani herdsmen and also vice versa.

  1. This is very warisom as this type of reports goes on. May I asked whether Fulani herder-Farmer’s conflict is mainly between Muslim fulani and non-fulani Christian Farmers in Nigeria. Kindly talk to the truth and let us find lasting solutions to our problems.
