The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, has lost his stepmother, Hajja Hauwa Abba Kormi, in the early hours of today.
Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President), conveyed the news in an official statement released today, February 1, 2024.
He said Hajja Kormi, aged 69, passed away after battling a prolonged illness, leaving behind five children, several stepchildren, and grandchildren.
According to the statement, the Janaiza (funeral prayer) is scheduled for 4:00 pm today at Shettimari, Lawan Bukar, Maiduguri, Borno State.
Nkwocha noted that the grieving Vice President, his family, and well-wishers would gather to pay their respects and bid farewell to the departed.
”May the Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her a place in Jannatul Firdaus. The loss is deeply felt, and sympathies go out to the Shettima family during this difficult time,” the statement concluded.
