Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently presiding over the second National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Council Chambers, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the meeting is expected to be attended by the 36 governors of the federation, minister of finance, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.
Early callers at the Council Chamber include Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, his colleague from Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, and the deputy governor of Enugu State, Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai.
Other governors who are present include Inuwa Yahya (Gombe), Dauda Lawan (Zamfara), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Abdulrahman Abdulrazak (Kwara), Dr. Alex Otti (Abia), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Senator Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Senator Uba Sani (Kaduna), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Prof. Charles Soludo (Anambra), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), David Onoja (Kogi), Umaru Namadi (Jigawa), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Duoye Diri (Bayelsa), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Prince Bassey Otu (Cross River), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Ahmad Aliu (Sokoto), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), and Senator Hope Uzodimma (Imo).
The NEC meeting is a forum for the governors and other stakeholders to discuss economic issues towards improving the economy.
