
Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Daura, Katsina State for Abuja, the nation’s capital city.
Shettima departed Daura on Thursday, July 17, for Abuja following the conclusion of the burial rites of the late former president Muhammadu Buhari.
Buhari died in a London Hospital on Sunday, at the age of 82. He was buried in his private residence on Tuesday with numerous leaders and other dignitaries.
A statement by Stanley Nkwocha, a media aide to the vice president said Shettina departed Daura after the third prayer for the late president.
He also noted that the vice president upon his arrival in Abuja will join cabinet members of President Bola Tinubu at the special Federal Executive Council Meeting at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.
Nkwocha said, “Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Daura, Katsina State, for Abuja following the conclusion of the Third Day prayer for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The Vice President, who led the prayer session at the late former President’s family residence alongside former Vice President Namadi Sambo, governors of Katsina and Borno states and several other ministers is expected to attend the special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting scheduled in honour of the late former President later today,” he noted.
