The National Headquarters of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) on Thursday disassociated itself from the purported endorsement of Bola Tinubu, presidential flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election.
POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that a letter released on Tuesday by MSSN ‘A’ Zone Headquarters, Zaria, Kaduna State, endorsed the candidacy of Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State.
The letter stirred conversation on social media with several online users criticising the Muslim organisation.
Reacting via an official statement, the National President of the MSSN, Mallam Shehu Uthman Abubakar said the organisation is non-partisan and only stands for “justice and sincere service to the electorate”.
The statement adds: “The MSSN at the moment most frankly applauds our respected members who are actively and passively partaking at various political party platforms for different viable leadership positions across Nigeria.
“Hence, any proclamation of a presidential candidate from any political party in the name of MSSN should please be disregarded.”
