The Nigeria Police Force has warned against fraudulent activities related to petition processing.
The Force’s Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, unequivocally stated that the Police do not have accredited agents for receiving or managing petitions from the public.
In a statement sent to journalists on Sunday, November 26, ACP Adejobi emphasized that the standard protocol for submitting petitions involves direct contact with Police offices and discourages the involvement of intermediaries or payment of undue amounts.
He urged members of the public to report and expose individuals engaged in these fraudulent acts through official complaint platforms.
He stated that any individual caught in such illicit dealings will face severe legal consequences.
”The Nigeria Police does not have agents to take and process petitions from Nigerians.
”These elements charge and dupe people of huge amounts under the pretence of processing their complaints with such monies and denting the image of the Police and our Senior Officers. This is improper and unacceptable.
”Nigerians are hereby urged to always drop petitions to our offices as normal correspondence, as there are no special treatments or administrative bureaucracies on petitions.
”The public is urged to expose and report anyone who is fond of doing that via our published complaint platforms. We condemn this in its totality and will do everything possible to curb such, and whoever caught in that dirty deal will face the full wrath of the law,” the police spokesman said.
