The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has mourned the death of popular Nigerian artiste and Reggae musician, Majek Fashek.
This newspaper had reported that the artist died on June 1st 2020 after battling with serious health issues in a US hospital. Fashek has been battling multiple health problems for a while now and his death has come as a shock to many.
Confirming the death of the talented musician, his manager, Uzo Omenka on Tuesday, said; “Yes, I have been having pressure calls from All over. Yes, it is true that the legend has gone to be with the lord but this time I want to say we should all celebrate him, his achievements, he has done a lot for Nigeria, Africa and whatever the family decides will get to you. This is all I have to say for now”.
But in a tweet on Tuesday morning, Keyamo described Majek Fashek, whose real name is Majekodunmi Fasekek, as an extraordinarily gifted musician.
The minister said the artiste’s remake of the song Hotel California remains one of his favorites and, of course, the evergreen, Send Down the Rain!
He tweeted: “R.I.P my big brother, Mr. Majekodunmi Fasheke (aka Majek Fashek), the ‘Rain Maker’ and extraordinarily gifted musician.
“They don’t make them like you anymore. Your remake of the song Hotel California remains one of my favorites and, of course, the ever green, Send Down the Rain!”
