A media company owned by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Gotel Communications, has sacked 46 workers due to financial constraints.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the sacked letter was signed by the company’s General Manager, Mohammed El-Yakub.
It was also learned that the company gave the affected workers their letters on Friday, May 1, adding that the letter is with immediate effect.
The letter reads: “The management has decided to discontinue your services with immediate effect.
“Consequently, please be informed that your entitlements, including stipend in lieu of notice, will be computed and posted into your account with immediate effect.”
This newspaper gathered that Gotel Communications had been in financial mess for a long while and the possibility of Friday’s development had long been speculated.
