JUST IN: Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni Dissolves Cabinet

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has dissolved the State Executive Council and relieved all political appointees of their positions.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this move comes ahead of Governor Buni’s second and final term to be inaugurated on May 29, which will span four years.

According to a press statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs, the Governor’s directive was communicated to the public in Damaturu.

The statement outlined the specific actions to be taken, stating, “The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) is directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretary Administration. Similarly, the Chief of Staff to His Excellency is directed to hand over to the most senior official in the Government House. Permanent Secretaries in the various Ministries are directed to oversee the affairs of their respective ministries.”

However, the former SSG, who also serves as the Chairman of the inauguration committee, along with other committee members, will continue in their roles until the swearing-in of the Governor and his Deputy.

Governor Buni expressed his appreciation to the Executive Council members and other political appointees for their service to the state and their contributions to the achievements of his administration.

He wished them success in their future endeavours.

It should be noted that Governor Buni, who ran as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the last general elections, emerged victorious in all 17 Local Government Areas of the state, securing 317,113 votes.

His closest rival, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Sharif Abdulahi, received a total of 104,259 votes.
