JUST IN: Yusuf Mamman Dantalle assumes chairmanship of Inter-party Advisory Committee

The Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Nigeria’s coalition of registered political parties, has undergone a change in its National Executive Committee (NEC) with the election of Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, the National Chairman of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), as the new chairman.

The election, overseen by Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, the electoral committee chairman, witnessed a transition in leadership as Dantalle secured victory over the incumbent Chairman, Yabagi Sani of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).

In a closely contested election, Dantalle emerged victorious with ten votes, defeating Sani, who garnered eight votes, while one vote was declared void.

Alongside Dantalle’s win, Hon. Dipo Olayoku of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) assumed the position of Deputy National Chairman, running unopposed.

The newly elected committee members include Martins Egbeola as National Organizing Secretary, Maxwell Magbuden as National Secretary, Obed Agu as National Legal Adviser, Mariam Babel as National Treasurer, and Ibrahim Suleiman as National Financial Secretary.

Expressing gratitude for the mandate placed upon him, Dantalle commended IPAC members for their trust and pledged to fulfil his duties in compliance with the council’s regulations while collaborating with party leaders.

He emphasized inclusivity and pledged to establish a women’s affairs directorate within IPAC to elevate women’s participation in political processes.

Additionally, Dantalle outlined plans to ensure IPAC’s registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) within the first three months of his administration.

Former IPAC Chairman, Sani, graciously congratulated Dantalle on his victory, emphasizing the importance of democracy and exhibiting maturity in the electoral process.

Sani expressed optimism for IPAC’s progress under Dantalle’s leadership and hoped for a positive trajectory to elevate the committee.
