Days after the passing of His Royal Highness Ibrahim Bello, the Zamfara State governor, Dauda Lawal has appointed a new Emir of Gusau.
Lawal on Tuesday approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the 16th Emir of Gusau.
He also approved his position as the Sarkin Katsina of Gusau Emirate.
Abdulkadir’s appointment follows the death of his father, the immediate past Emir of Gusau on July 25, after a decade of reign.
The governor’s approval was contained in a statement issued by Abubakar Nakwada, the Secretary to the Zamfara state Government.
According to Nakwada, the appointment of the new Emir by the governor stems from the traditional recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers.
He said this decision is in line with established customs and relevant laws of the land.
The governor also congratulated the newly appointed Emir while urging him to uphold the legacy of his forefathers.
