Justice Will Be Served – IGP Vows As Force Arrests 3 Policemen Over Kwara Poly Student’s Death

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has vowed to ensure that justice is served in the case involving the killing of a Kwara State Polytechnic Student, Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola.

This is just as IGP Egbetokun also ordered the Homicide section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID Abuja to embark on a detailed and comprehensive investigation into the killing.

The student, a National Diploma 2 student of Electrical/Electronics Engineering at the institution was said to have been killed by the police in a mysterious circumstance in the Fate Area of Ilorin, the state capital on the 4th of September 2024.

According to a statement issued by the Force Spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Monday night, the officers involved in the incident have been identified.

ACP Adejobi gave their names as Inspector Abiodun Kayode, Inspector James Emmanuel, and Sergeant Oni Philip, attached to the Department of Operations, Kwara State Command, adding that they have been consequently detained for investigation.

“The Inspector-General of Police who is deeply saddened by this unfortunate event that has led to the loss of a young Nigerian, expresses his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased,” the statement reads.

“He acknowledges the profound grief and loss caused by this unfortunate act and reassures the family and members of the public that Justice will be served.”
