Joy Onoh, a Mass Communication graduate of the Benue State University (BSU), has been killed by unknown persons.
Joy, 24, who finished school in March, was murdered earlier this week in North Bank area of Makurdi, Benue State.
It was gathered that Onoh was attacked on Tuesday evening by yet-to-be-identified persons who posed as online buyers. There are also insinuations she was raped before the criminals terminated her life.
This newspaper gathered that her corpse was later found in a bush path in Low Cost Federal Housing Estate in North Bank of Makurdi.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, mother of the deceased, Grace Onuh, explained that her daughter was waiting to be mobilised for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She used the waiting period to be selling casual outfits for both men and women. It was sales of these products she went to deliver to a supposed customer that she met her sad death.
“Joy never stayed out late. I was plaiting her hair when a customer called her to bring easy wear and T-shirt to north bank. So my daughter quickly abandoned the hair and took the clothes with to north bank.
“I waited she never came back, I called her line and it was busy all the time. She left the house at about 5pm and by 9pm I went to report the matter to police who found the body of my daughter the next day,” the woman said amid sobs.
Reacting, Catherine Anene, the Police Spokesperson in Benue State, confirmed the incident, promising that the security agency is already investigating.
This situation is becoming too rampant these days and I wonder why people do not respect human lives in this generation.
