#JusticeForSylvester: “Authorities must get to bottom of case” – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice-President of Nigeria, has called for justice for Sylvester Oromoni, the 12-year-old student of Dowen College, Lekki Lagos, who died from injuries he allegedly sustained from bullying by his fellow students, who wanted him to join their secret cult group.

Atiku took to his verified Twitter handle on Friday to call on all concerned authorities to investigate the matter without fear or favour. He also demanded for a safe environment for learning in Nigeria.

“We shall be failing in our duties as parents/guardians, administrators, security agencies and government if we do not get to the bottom of the case of late Sylvester Oromoni. It is beholden upon us to enthrone a safe environment in our schools. #Justiceforsylvester,” Atiku wrote.

The Lagos State Government on Friday ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, following the investigation into the death of the boy.

Although, Dowen College denied all allegations stating that Oromoni was neither bullied nor beaten, many social media users have continued to harp on uprightness on the part of the school.

Apart from Atiku, prominent persons like Aisha Yesufu, Mr Macaroni, Adesua Etomi have lent their voices to the trending matter.
