Kaduna Govt receives belongings of passengers on attacked train

The Kaduna State Government said it has received luggage, valuables and other belongings of some passengers who were on the ill-fated Abuja-Kaduna train which was attacked by bandits on Monday night.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this was made known in a statement signed by Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State.

The items were handed over to the Kaduna State Government by the military authorities, who had gathered the items from within and around the train during search operations after the attack.

Reacting, Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed his gratitude to the military and commended them for their handling and documentation of the items, comprising over 100 pieces of luggage, valuables, gadgets and personal effects.

Nine persons had already collected their items after presenting proof at the point of recovery by the military.

The government’s statement said the remaining belongings, received with a detailed inventory, will be carefully stored.
