Streets across Kaduna, the capital city of Kaduna State have been manned by security operatives who are enforcing a 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government.
As of Tuesday morning, the streets of Kaduna/Zaria Metropolis and their environs remain deserted, with only a few individuals daring to venture out. Businesses have also been forced to close.
In a video, the operatives were seen being backed by an armoured tank.
The measure was taken in response to the protests that have been hijacked by criminal elements, leading to widespread looting and destruction of property.
In a statement on Monday, the overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, urged citizens to remain indoors while security forces work tirelessly to maintain safety and security.
The curfew is set to be reviewed as necessary.
