
The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of Ibrahim Adamu Bakori as the new Commissioner of Police for Kano State.
PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani confirmed the appointment.
In a statement, Ani stated that Bakori, who hails from Katsina State, replaces Salman Garba Dogo, who was recently promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police.
Until his new role, Bakori served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Homicide at the Force Investigation Department, Abuja. He has also held several key positions, including Commander of the Bayelsa State Joint Task Force, Operation Doo Akpo, Yenagoa; Assistant Commissioner, Special Protection Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja; Assistant Commissioner, Criminal Investigation Department in both Bayelsa and Rivers states; Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police; and Commanding Officer, 17 PMF, Akure.
The chairman of the PSC, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), has urged Bakori to ensure peace and security in Kano State. He advised the new police commissioner to quickly settle into his role and focus on tackling crime while protecting citizens’ rights and businesses.
Argungu also stressed the need for crime mapping to enable a strategic and targeted approach to policing in Kano. He assured that the PSC will monitor Bakori’s performance and provide necessary support.
