The Kano State Government has finally spoken out after protesters carrying Russian flags were spotted throughout the state.
The clarification comes amidst the display of foreign flags during the ongoing protest against hunger and bad governance in the country.
According to Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the spokesman for Governor Abba Yusuf, the protesters waving Russian flags are unknown to the government and do not represent any of its agents.
Dawakin Tofa said the genuine protesters, who had submitted their grievances to the state government, would have their concerns forwarded to President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.
However, the government has made it clear that the group carrying Russian flags is not part of the legitimate protest movement.
In addition to distancing itself from the Russian flag protesters, the Kano State Government has announced the establishment of a committee of inquiry to investigate the senseless killings and looting of public buildings that occurred during the protests.
