Kano Governor Abba Gida-gida Pledges to Unearth the Truth in ‘Murder Case’ Against Doguwa

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, commonly known as Abba Gida-Gida, has pledged to reopen the murder case against Alhassan Ado Doguwa, the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this decision comes after the previous administration, led by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, dropped all charges of murder and arson against Doguwa.

Recall that Doguwa had been arrested, arraigned, and remanded on accusations of orchestrating and participating in the killing of approximately 15 individuals during the Presidential/National Assembly Election on February 25.

Denying these allegations vehemently, he has maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings.

However, during his inaugural speech following his swearing-in, Governor Yusuf announced his intention to thoroughly review this case along with other electoral offences committed during his predecessor’s eight-year tenure.

He emphasised the need to investigate incidents of political violence that resulted in the loss of life and property throughout the state.

Yusuf stated, “The infamous case of Alhassan Ado Doguwa, who allegedly sponsored the maiming and murder of over 15 innocent souls in Tudun Wada Local Government, will be pursued to its logical conclusion.”

He further declared that a Judicial Commission of Inquiry would be established to ensure that those responsible, including the masterminds behind political thuggery, face justice.

Additionally, he said the families of the victims will be entitled to justice.
