Kano poll: NNPP announces fees for chairmanship nomination form

Ahead of the Local Government Elections in Kano State, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has set the fees for the chairmanship and councilor position at N500,000 and N150,000 respectively.

The party also set the expression of interest fees for both positions at N100,000 and N50,000 each.

Speaking at a press briefing in Kano on Tuesday, August 20, the NNPP’s Kano State chairman, Hashim Dungurawa said the party is committed to providing a leveled playing ground for all aspirants.

Dungurawa urged all interested aspirants who are currently occupying elected or appointed positions in the state to resign as provided by the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission KANSIEC Elections guidelines.

His words, “We don’t want to create or leave loops holes in our Party, that is why we have taken a drastic measures against anybody that is contesting and we want to gives to Kano Citizens People’s with a sound background who will help them out of their economic and social predicaments,” he said.

He also stated that the N10 million fee for the Chairmanship expression of interest form and N5 million for Councillorship, is a commendable move by the State Electoral Commission, KANSAIC.

According to Dungurawa, the set fees would enhance effective management of LGAs in the State and make room for only those who have credible characters to take such positions.

The party chairman also emphasized that the NNPP has set up a screening committee saddle with checking the Academic background and conduct drugs related tests on aspirants.

“We are purchasing WAEC scratch cards to double cross-checks the Academic reliability of any candidate as well as his records, With regards to drugs and criminal history of any, so that anybody coming will have a sound character as a leader to his People,” Dungurawa added.
