Kano state encountered worst corruption under Ganduje’s administration, says Gov Yusuf

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has accused the previous administration under Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of the worst form of corruption in comparison to other states.

Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for civil servants in the directorate cadre on anti-corruption principles, Yusuf lamented the extensive corruption that plagued Kano during Ganduje’s eight-year tenure from 2015 to 2023.

Represented by his deputy, Aminu Gwarzo, at the workshop in Dawakin Kudu Local Government, Governor Yusuf asserted that the corruption experienced in Kano was unparalleled.

He described how state investments and assets were fraudulently sold, benefiting a select few and leaving the state’s infrastructure in disrepair.

“Our investment and state assets, which are crucial as the region’s commercial hub, were hopelessly and fraudulently sold off.

“Those who acquired these assets are the primary culprits behind this corruption.

“Our infrastructure suffered years of neglect occasioned by multifaceted problems we are battling with after assuming office,” he stated.

The governor lamented the widespread revenue leakages that served only a few individuals, undermining the state’s collective interests.

He vowed to address the challenges posed by the corrupt practices and restore integrity to the state’s governance and development efforts.
