Lead Counsels to the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Mike Ozekhome, have dismissed claims of being sacked by Nnamdi Kanu’s family.
Politics Nigeria earlier reported a tweet by Kanunta Kanu, younger brother of the IPOB leader, that the services of Ozekhome and Ejiofor were ” no longer required”.
Responding in a statement issued on Thursday, Ejiofor countered Kanunta, describing the dismissal notice as “false, baseless, defamatory, mischievous, insulting, and unauthorised.”
Ejiofor said Kanunta lives in Germany “and does not even know anything about Onyendu’s case”, maintaining that he and Ozekhome have been visiting the IPOB leader in detention.
“Biafrans should note and be assured that Onyendu’s legal team ably led by the legal iroko of our time – Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN, is closely monitoring every situation about and around Onyendu,” the statement read.
Ejiofor explained that they are working to ensure the Kanu’s release adding that the Supreme Court would decide the matter on September 14, immediately after the annual vacation.
