Katsina residents have actively responded to the call for information on two notorious bandit kingpins, Modi Modi and Jan Kare after the Katsina State Police Command offered a substantial reward of N50 million.
The police had issued a special bulletin urging citizens to provide valuable information leading to the arrest of the banditry kingpins operating within Kankara and Safana Local Government Areas.
Residents have been providing credible information since the announcement, demonstrating their eagerness to contribute to enhancing security efforts in the state.
The Katsina State Police Command expressed appreciation for the overwhelming response, acknowledging the importance of community involvement in tackling criminal elements.
The police spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, emphasized that the command is actively reviewing the received information to identify leads that could lead to the apprehension of the wanted criminals.
“We have been receiving an avalanche of information from the people on the two bandits kingpins and even criminals generally in the state since our bulletin was out.
“The command is very appreciative of the people’s response. But, you know, we must sieve through the information to bring out the one that will lead to the arrest of the bandits kingpins.
“We are encouraged by peoples’ response and the command will implore them to keep on sending information not only on the two bandits kingpins but on criminals generally in the state so that the state would be rid of the criminals,” he told Punch.
Why must residents be offered money before they can give information on wanted bandits? They too are bandits or they are enjoying the banditry.
