A former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, has hinted that he would soon defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Just hours after Daniel Bwala’s move to the APC, Sowunmi has hinted at following suit.
Bwala served as one of the spokespersons of the Atiku Campaign Organisation during the 2023 general elections.
Sowunmi, who is currently eyeing the position of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, said he would join Bwala in the ruling party since some PDP members are not interested in reforms.
Bwala’s defection came after a visit to President Bola Tinubu earlier this week, during which he dropped hints about his return to the ruling party.
Speaking on a Twitter space with the topic: PDP leadership and role of opposition in democracy, Sowunmi said:
”Am I going to criticise President Bola Tinubu more than the one I have been criticising him? Am I going to fight him more than the one I have been fighting him?
”I have known this man since 1993 by name and by voice. And yet, on behalf of this party and for the benefit of this party, I am closing my eyes to everything.
”The person that was president in 1999, is he still a member of their party today? The one that said he didn’t have shoes – Jonathan – that we gave him presidency two times.
”Because of Jonathan, we became a party that everybody was abusing. He is not still standing with the party today.
”I am still here standing and shouting. If they don’t want us to reform the party, please o, Bwala o Bwala, Bwala, Bwala, keep space for me, I am coming.”
