Kogi local govt leaders endorse Gov Ododo for second term ahead of 2027 guber election

Local government leaders across Kogi State have thrown their full support behind Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s bid for a second term, two years ahead of the next gubernatorial election.

During an ongoing leadership induction course in Lokoja, the 21 local government chairmen and 239 ward councillors officially endorsed Governor Ododo, describing him as the “symbol of continuity, stability, and progress.”

The endorsement motion was jointly presented by Hon. William Ameh of Olamaboro Local Government Area and Councillor Obaromi Comfort Olufunke of Kabba Bunu LGA. It was unanimously adopted by all present.

The local leaders commended Governor Ododo’s achievements, particularly at the grassroots level.

They praised his administration’s efforts in improving access to healthcare and education, implementing impactful youth empowerment programs, and driving widespread infrastructure development.

“Under his leadership, rural communities are no longer sidelined but have become central to Kogi’s governance and development agenda,” they stated.

Their endorsement also marked the beginning of early political mobilization within the state, as local government leaders pledged to consolidate and expand the achievements recorded under the current administration.

In a joint communique, they vowed to protect the progress made so far and ensure its sustainability beyond 2027.

“For the people at the grassroots, Governor Ododo is more than a leader—he represents a movement worth continuing,” the statement added.
